The Shared Value Initiative, with FSG and 17 funders, hosted over 200 practitioners from corporations, civil society, and the government at the Global Shared Value Leadership Summit on May 23rd, 2013.

The advancement of the shared value field was evident; the audience included established leaders in diverse industries and issue areas spanning 20 countries.

Program highlights included a dynamic conversation between the Chairman of Nestlé, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, and FSG’s co-founder, Professor Michael E. Porter of Harvard Business School. A CEO panel on embedding shared value into the business featured leaders from among the largest pharmaceutical companies, NGOs, and philanthropies: Vincent Forlenza, CEO of BD, Neal Keny-Guyer, CEO of Mercy Corps, and Judith Rodin, President of the Rockefeller Foundation. President William J. Clinton gave an exclusive video address to summit attendees.

Additionally, new research on the key ingredients for shared value and social innovation was introduced and an international panel addressed how the role of governments may impact shared value adoption and implementation.

The Summit was the culmination of a week-long event series that included the accreditation of the first Affiliated Professional Services cohort, a network of 27 strategy and communications firms from 15 countries, trained to support implementation of shared value strategies. Lastly, the Global Shared Value Leadership Summit activated a new online community where shared value leaders, practitioners, and thinkers can connect on research, case studies, tools, discussions, and events that will shape the future of shared value.
